Up the backside of Fig Mtn on Happy Canyon, down Figueroa Mtn. Road. 43.5 miles and about 5300' of climbing over mixed road surfaces, including two short water crossing (easy does it) and one mile of uphill gravel easily done on a road bike. Three to four hours duration with lunch option across the street at El Rancho Market - open on New Years Day. Be prepared for a cold start but by the start of the climb usually layers are shed. If you haven't done it this is one of the most beautiful rides in our area, hard enough but under good conditions not epic, either.
Once the climb starts we will naturally separate into groups according to pace; work out your own regroups. Good spots are after the gravel section, at the saddle before the final climb and after the cattle crossing at the bottom. Bring plenty of water and snacks. Ride share!
